Background: The operating theatre is a critical hub in healthcare facilities, demanding strict safety measures to safeguard both healthcare workers and patients. In the unique healthcare landscape of District Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, the intricacies of safety knowledge and practices within operation theatres require comprehensive evaluation. This study aims to contribute valuable insights to enhance safety culture in this region. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey, conducted from August to November 2023, assessed the safety knowledge of 100 healthcare workers in District Kinnaur. The research employed a descriptive approach with a cross-sectional survey design. A Google Form questionnaire, addressing socio-demography and safety in operation theatres, was pre-tested and circulated online. Data were collected, entered into Microsoft Excel and analyzed using Epi Info V7 Software. Validity was ensured by field experts. Results: Participants demonstrated varied safety knowledge levels, with 22% having very good, 34% good, 29% fair and 15% poor knowledge. Positive responses were observed in infection control practices, teamwork and communication. However, gaps were identified in fire safety, patient identification protocols and coping strategies for psychological stressors. Conclusion: The study provides nuanced insights into safety knowledge among healthcare workers in District Kinnaur. While overall awareness is promising, targeted interventions are crucial for improvement. The findings underscore the importance of continuous training, interdisciplinary communication and psychological well-being in fostering a robust safety culture.

Background: Vitamin D deficiency poses a silent health concern among women of reproductive age in Himachal Pradesh, despite its seemingly unlikely prevalence in the sunlight-endowed terrains of the region. This study explores the intricacies of Vitamin D awareness, focusing on symptoms, risk factors, preventive measures, and treatment options, considering the unique geographical and cultural landscape. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in Himachal Pradesh between August and November 2023. The study included 400 women of reproductive age, utilizing a Google Form questionnaire covering socio-demographic details and Vitamin D deficiency knowledge. Scoring ranged from very good (>80%) to poor (<40%), and statistical analyses were performed using Epi Info V7 Software. Results: Among 400 participants, 31% demonstrated very good knowledge, 39% good knowledge, 19.5% fair knowledge, and 10.5% poor knowledge regarding Vitamin D deficiency. Participants exhibited strong awareness of common symptoms (78.75%), risk factors (63.5%), and preventive measures (63.25%). However, nuances like the impact of skin pigmentation (52.75%) and less obvious symptoms (69%) indicated specific areas for targeted education. Conclusion: The study provides nuanced insights into Vitamin D awareness among women of reproductive age in Himachal Pradesh. While overall knowledge levels are encouraging, identified gaps emphasize the need for targeted interventions. The unique regional landscape necessitates tailored strategies for enhanced public health outcomes.

Background: The journey of pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period encompasses a transformative experience, necessitating comprehensive awareness for optimal maternal and neonatal outcomes. This study explores the levels of awareness regarding pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care among women in District Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, considering the regional dynamics and cultural influences. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted between August 2023 and November 2023 in District Mandi. The study included 400 women of reproductive age, residing in the district for at least 12 months. A structured questionnaire, validated by field experts, was administered through online platforms. Descriptive statistics and scoring were employed for data analysis. Results: Of the 400 participants, 67.5% were from rural areas. The study revealed commendable antenatal knowledge, with 96% recognizing early pregnancy signs. While participants demonstrated comprehensive awareness of intrapartum and postpartum care, certain gaps were identified, particularly in less commonly known conditions. Breastfeeding awareness was notable, with 76% recognizing the importance of early initiation. Conclusion: The study contributes valuable insights into maternal healthcare awareness in District Mandi. While acknowledging the strengths, targeted interventions addressing specific knowledge gaps are essential. The findings underscore the importance of culturally sensitive approaches for improving maternal and neonatal health outcomes.

Background: In the picturesque landscapes of District Shimla, nestled within the grandeur of the Himalayan foothills, the well-being of the elderly extends beyond physical health into the intricate realm of mental well-being. This study explores mental health awareness and knowledge among the elderly in Shimla, unraveling complexities shaped by cultural nuances and the unique Himalayan backdrop. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was employed, targeting Shimla's elderly population (aged 60 and above). The study, conducted between August 2023 and October 2023, utilized a robust sample size of 400 residents. A Google Form questionnaire, encompassing socio-demographic details and 20 knowledge-related questions on Mental Health & Well-being, was employed. The tool's validity was ensured by experts in the field, and data collection occurred through online modes, maintaining participant confidentiality. Data analysis utilized Epi Info V7 Software, employing descriptive statistics. Results: Of the 400 participants, 33.25% resided in urban areas, while 66.75% were in rural areas. Diverse knowledge levels were observed, with 28% exhibiting very good knowledge, 38.25% good knowledge, 21.5% fair knowledge, and 12.25% poor knowledge. Participants demonstrated awareness of mental health conditions (63.75%), acknowledged stigma (64.75%), and recognized the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic (66%). Gaps were identified in naming community resources (30.25%). Conclusion: The study enriches understanding by highlighting diverse knowledge levels and unveiling nuances in mental health awareness among Shimla's elderly. The findings underscore the need for targeted interventions addressing stigma, promoting community resource awareness, and considering cultural influences. These insights contribute to global discussions on mental health in aging populations, emphasizing the necessity for context-specific approaches.

Background: Skin cancer's rising global incidence necessitates focused awareness efforts, particularly in diverse regions like District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, India. This study, conducted under the "Radiant Health Initiative," aimed to assess the community's knowledge of skin cancer, considering its prevalence and unique demographics. Material & Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was employed in District Kangra, targeting adults residing for a minimum of 12 months. A sample size of 400 participants was determined, and data were collected through a Google Form questionnaire covering socio-demographics and 20 knowledge-related questions. The study duration was from August 2023 to October 2023. Data were analyzed using Epi Info V7 Software, applying descriptive statistics. Results: Of the 400 respondents, 30.75% were urban and 69.25% rural residents. The study revealed varied knowledge levels: 27% very good, 35.5% good, 24% fair, and 13.5% poor. While participants showed strong awareness of general concepts, gaps were identified in specific areas, emphasizing the need for targeted interventions. Conclusion: The study sheds light on skin cancer awareness in District Kangra, recognizing commendable awareness in certain aspects but revealing crucial gaps. The study underscores the necessity for tailored educational campaigns to address specific knowledge lacunae, promoting informed preventive practices. Background: Reproductive Tract Infections (RTIs) pose a significant global health challenge, necessitating comprehensive awareness and intervention programs. This cross-sectional study conducted in District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, India, explores the unique socio-cultural landscape of the Himalayan region to evaluate the awareness of RTIs among women of reproductive age. Materials & Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted from August 2023 to October 2023. The study included 400 women of reproductive age residing in District Kangra for at least 12 months. A Google Form questionnaire, encompassing socio-demographic and RTI knowledge questions, was pre-tested and circulated online. Data analysis employed Epi Info V7 Software, emphasizing frequencies and percentages. The study aligned with India's National Health Mission objectives. Results: Of the 400 participants, 41.75% were from urban and 58.25% from rural areas. The study revealed commendable awareness levels, with 73.25% recognizing common RTI symptoms. Preventive measures such as personal hygiene and condom use were acknowledged by 72.5% and 67.5%, respectively. Concerns about undetected RTIs (60%) and awareness of screening and treatment options (67.5% to 73.5%) were notable. Socio-demographic determinants influenced knowledge levels. Overall, 29.5% had very good knowledge, 40.5% good, 18.5% fair, and 11.5% poor. Conclusion: This study contributes vital insights into RTI awareness in the Himalayan region. High awareness on symptoms and preventive measures contrasts with knowledge gaps on asymptomatic RTIs. Tailored interventions addressing socio-demographic factors are imperative. The study underscores the need for region-specific public health strategies, aligning with national objectives, to enhance RTI awareness and promote women's reproductive health.

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a persistent global health challenge, demanding a nuanced understanding of awareness and knowledge levels among diverse populations. This study delves into the intricacies of TB awareness and knowledge among the general public in the unique Himalayan region of Himachal Pradesh, India. The aim is to contribute valuable insights for targeted interventions tailored to the specific sociocultural dynamics of the region. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was employed, collecting data from 400 adults in Himachal Pradesh between July and October 2023. Utilizing a Google Form questionnaire validated by experts, the survey encompassed socio-demographic details and 20 structured knowledge-related questions. The sample size, determined with a 95% confidence level and a 5% non-response rate, underwent data analysis using Epi Info V7 software. Results: The study unveiled commendable TB awareness, with 37% demonstrating "very good" knowledge and 42.25% exhibiting "good" knowledge scores. However, 20.75% displayed "fair" and "poor" knowledge, emphasizing the necessity for tailored educational initiatives. The urban skew in respondents (56.75% from urban areas) suggests potential disparities warranting attention. Comparative analysis with previous studies reinforces the universal importance of community engagement and underscores the need for region-specific strategies. Conclusion: Despite the relatively lower TB prevalence in Himachal Pradesh, knowledge gaps persist, highlighting the importance of targeted interventions.
