Awareness regarding Menopausal Phenomenon among menopausal women in a hilly states of Northern India- a Cross-Sectional Study
Background: Today, menopausal years must be spent by women all over the world for roughly one-third of their lives. As a result, menopause is currently a problem for maintaining and enhancing women's health. This study looked at menopausal women in a hilly region of Northern India to see how much they knew about the menopausal phenomenon. Methods: Using Google forms, a crosssectional survey of menopausal women living in the state of Himachal Pradesh was carried out. Until 400 replies were gathered, the questionnaire was distributed among state citizens in both rural and urban areas via email and social media sites such WhatsApp groups, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. Utilizing Epi info V7 Software, data was analyzed. Results: A total of 400 respondents including 155(38.75%) were from urban area and 245(61.25%) were from rural area were participated in the study. Among the participants of the majority 250(62.5%) were between 51-60 years, 169(42.25%) were Middle pass, 369 (91.5%) were housewife/unemployed, 382(95.5%) were married and 385 (96.25%) were Hindu. In the present study 21(5.25%) Menopausal women had very good knowledge (16-20 marks) towards Menopausal phenomenon, 161(40.25%) had good knowledge (12-15 marks), 187(46.75%) having fair knowledge (8-11 marks) and 31(7.75%) having poor knowledge (<8 marks). Conclusion: This study demonstrated that the majority of menopausal women lacked appropriate information of the condition. In order to help these women enjoy their postmenopausal years more healthfully and actively, IEC (information, education and counselling) should be used to raise awareness about menopause.
