Abstract
Desertification is a global phenomenon affecting countries all over the world, it is an incontestable fact that desertification is one of the fundamental environmental problems that is responsible for the current trend in decrease in crop yield, global warming and drought as well this necessitate the planting of acacia Senegalese plant, and development of measures to combat desertification,This present, study attempts to determine the influence of desertification pattern and vertical distribution in soil moisture in the vicinity of Mai Idris Alooma polytechnic Geidam, Thus,. Planting of seven hundred (700) seedlings of acacia Senegalese plant was used. The data was analyzed using multiple linear regressions to determine the factors that significantly contributed toward the influence of desertification pattern. The result of the study shows that there was a linear relationship between the influence of desertification pattern and vertical distribution in soil moisture. (r = .553, p = 0.001) The study suggests integrated and holistic strategies for improved land conservation and sustainable management of land and water resources.
