Small Christian Communities Involvement in Social Justice in the Catholic Church in Vihiga County, Kenya

Abstract
This paper studies the important role of Small Christian Communities (SCCs) in promotion of social justice in the Catholic Church. This paper therefore, specifically analyzed the involvement of SCCs in promotion of social justice based on four basic principles of social justice namely: human dignity, common good, subsidiarity and solidarity in the Catholic Church in Vihiga County. The study was based on both primary and secondary data. The study was conducted in 279 SCCs in the five parishes in the Catholic Church in Vihiga County. Through questionnaires, observations and in depth interviews, the paper shows that the SCCs plays a key role in promotion of social justice to the Church’s mission derives from Jesus declaration: “Whatever you have done for one of these least brothers of mine, you have done it for me Matthew 25:45. SCC is seen as an agent of social justice in the Catholic Church at the grassroots level.
