One hundred and fifty-seven elite advanced bread wheat lines were evaluated for resistance to karnal bunt by artificial field inoculation during the season 2020-2021 in three sowing dates (November 28, December 8 and 17, 2020). Seed density was 8 g for a row 0.7 m long. Inoculations were carried out by injecting 1 mL of an allantoid sporidial suspension (10,000 mL) during the boot stage of the plant. A mist irrigation system was used in order to maintain high humidity within the experimental area. Harvest of inoculated spikes and threshing were done manually and the evaluation by visual inspection counting the number of infected and healthy grain in order to determine the percentage of infection. The range of infection for the first sowing date was 1.56 to 69.2% with an average of 29.18%, 0.61 to 71.84% for the second date with an avg. of 29.63%, and 1.12 to 68.97% for the third date with an avg. of 27.96%. Within the overall infection categories, three lines were in the category 2.6-5.0%, two in 5.1-10.0%, 83 in 10.1-30%, and 69 with more than 30% infection. Lines with the lowest average percentage of infection from the three dates were: ESTOC/7/2* KISKADEE#1/5/KAUZ* 2/MNV//KAUZ/3/MILAN/4/BAV92/6/WHEAR //2* PRL/2* PASTOR with 2.89%, ND643//2* PRL/2* PASTOR* 2/3/HEILO/4/KAKURU with 4.73, and WBLL1* 2/BRAMBLING* 2// BAVIS* 2/3/KACHU#1/ KIRITATI//KACHU with 4.86%. Lines with the highest average percentage of infection were: TUKURU//BAV92/ RAYON/3/ND643/2* WBLL1/4/BORL14 con 62.68%, BORL14*3//LALBMONO1*4/PVN with 57.01%, W15.92/4/PASTOR//HXL 7573/2* BAU/3/WBLL1/6/VEE/ MJI//2* TUI/3/2* PASTOR/4/ BERKUT/5/PFAU/MILAN/ 7/ROBINK with 56.18%, and WBLL1*2/BRAMBLING//TAM200/TUI/3/ VILLAJUAREZF2009/4/KACHU*2/3/ND643//2*PRL/2*PASTOR with 52.49%.
