Fertility Spectrum: Unveiling Awareness, Risks, and Solutions Among Women in District Mandi, Himachal Pradesh
Background: Infertility, a global concern with multifaceted dimensions, significantly impacts women's reproductive health. This study explores infertility awareness, risk factors, and treatment options among women in District Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, considering the unique sociocultural dynamics of the region. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted from August to November 2023 among 400 women of reproductive age in District Mandi. A Google Form questionnaire assessed demographic details, infertility knowledge, and attitudes. Data were analyzed using Epi Info V7 software, employing descriptive statistics. Results: Of the 400 respondents, 29.25% exhibited very good knowledge, emphasizing a robust understanding of infertility concepts. Knowledge gaps in areas like preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) and fertility preservation suggest opportunities for targeted educational interventions. Cultural influences positively shaped perceptions, and psychosocial aspects highlighted the emotional toll of infertility. Access and affordability concerns were acknowledged, demonstrating a comprehensive awareness. Conclusion: The study contributes crucial insights into infertility awareness in District Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Addressing knowledge gaps, understanding cultural influences, and recognizing psychosocial dimensions are essential for comprehensive reproductive health interventions. The study underscores the need for tailored strategies, considering regional and cultural variations.
