Aims: To assess the frequency, characteristics of studied samples with RTA and to identify the outcomes of admission to emergency units during the period of this study. Method: A retrospective cross-sectional study was carried out in all the hospitals which are containing the Emergency department. All the road traffic injuries registering from 1st January 2015 to end of December 2019 were taken irrespective of the place of accident. Total patients registered were approximately 988226 in this time period. Semi-structured questionnaire was used to study socio-demographic variables, site of injury and various risk factors related to RTAs. Results: Our finding found that the majority of cases 61.2% were in the age groups 26-35 years old followed by 27.3% in the 36 to 45 years and the least frequency 1.8% in the ages less than 15 years old. The male cases 59.2% were more than female cases 40.8%. The majority of them had no job. The highest frequency 38.4 %of them had head injury followed by 37.2% had chest and abdomen injury. Conclusion: We concluded that the majority of RTA patients were in the age 26-35 years old. The higher percentage of RTA patients occurs during 2019. The rate of RTA injuries was higher during 2015 and 2019. Majority of them are alive and most of them had permanent disability. There is a significant association has been found between the site of injury and year at the p. value less than 0.05. Recommendation: We need further research on this field to decrease the mortality and morbidity among people with RTA injuries in emergency department.
</article-meta></front><body /><back /></article>
