Resident Anesthetists in Himachal Pradesh shoulder the crucial responsibility of orchestrating the anesthesia process, beginning with pre-operative assessment. This study explores their knowledge of patient evaluation, history-taking and risk stratification, aiming to enhance their competence and improve healthcare standards. Materials and Methods:&amp;nbsp;A cross-sectional survey was conducted among Junior and Senior Residents of Anesthesia in Himachal Pradesh. A sample of 100 participants was selected. A questionnaire assessed knowledge related to pre-operative assessment. Data were analyzed using Epi Info V7 Software.&amp;nbsp;Results: The study revealed varying levels of knowledge among participants. Notably, 86% comprehended the purpose of pre-operative patient evaluation. Furthermore, 82% accurately described key components of a comprehensive assessment. However, 72% recognized the relevance of age, gender and lifestyle factors. While 82% understood risk stratification, 68% acknowledged the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. Overall, 26 participants exhibited very good knowledge, 34 good knowledge, 21 fair knowledge and 19 poor knowledge of pre-operative assessment. Conclusion: This study highlights Resident Anesthetists' knowledge gaps in pre-operative assessment processes. While proficiency was evident in certain aspects, improvements are needed, particularly in recognizing the significance of lifestyle factors and interdisciplinary collaboration. Regular training and education programs are crucial to enhance their competence and, consequently, patient safety and healthcare quality in Himachal Pradesh.&amp;nbsp;</abstract></article-meta></front><body /><back /></article>
