The United States, as the world's most powerful and influential political economy, dominated the emergence of new spirit of the system for the postwar world economy. The United States took the role of liberal hegemony in the system. Policymakers in the United States, both public and private, established policies, institutions, and processes that supplied crucial common goods and served as scaffolding for the rise of interstate cooperation, global capitalism, and globalization, particularly in the financial sector.
