It is one of the four priority Non-Communicable diseases (NCDs) targeted by world leaders. According to World Health Organization (WHO) around 1.6 million people worldwide died due to diabetes in 2016. The WHO has mentioned India as “The diabetic capital of the world” as it has got the highest number of diabetics. More than 95% of people with diabetes have type 2 diabetes. This type of diabetes is largely the result of excess body weight and physical inactivity. This longitudinal study aims to know the association between physical activity and blood glucose control. Method: the study included newly diagnosed diabetic patients with or without any co-morbidity from a hospital in Himachal Pradesh. It was an open cohort study conducted over a period of one year, where the recruitment of patients was done for six months and were followed for next 6 months.&amp;nbsp;Results: Present study analyzed socio-demographic details, risk factors associated with diabetes, and the association between regular physical activity and control of blood glucose level. Table 1 revealed male majority with 62.9% and ost of the patients were in the age group of 41-60 years. Table 2 highlighted tobacco use, alcohol consumption and physical activity. Table 3 revealed that majority of the participants who were physically active had blood glucose controlled than the patients who were physically inactive.&amp;nbsp;Conclusion: In conclusion the study highlights the significance of various risk factors associated with the occurrence of diabetes and factors like alcohol, tobacco and physical activity with control of blood glucose level, providing insights for future intervention and public health strategies to improve diabetes care.</abstract></article-meta></front><body /><back /></article>
